As the author of The Better World Handbook and The Better World Shopping Guide, Ellis Jones has focused on bridging the gap between academics, activists and the average citizen. An expert on social responsibility, global citizenship, and activism, he has been interviewed for radio and television both in the U.S. and Canada and was featured in the documentary film 50 Ways To Save The Planet.
Jones’ two best-selling books, each regularly updated, provide common-sense answers to the question “What can I do?” The Better World Handbook was named Best Book of the Year for Promoting Hope by Spirituality and Health magazine. The Better World Shopping Guide names names on products to buy and avoid.
On the sociology faculty at the University of California at Davis, Jones also teaches at the California Institute of Integral Studies and Saybrook Graduate School in San Francisco. His academic work has taken him to England, France, Sweden, Thailand, Panama, and China, where he instructed at China Agricultural University in Beijing. He is a winner of the Dakin Peace Award for scholarship in international peace and understanding.
Jones speaks on how to turn lofty ideals into practical actions, on the power of a new generation of consumers to change the world profoundly through everyday choices in what they buy, eat, and drive, what businesses and organizations they support, and how they use their energy and time as citizens, activists, and earners.
