A pioneer in establishing and spreading the concepts of deep ecology, John Seed coauthored (with Joanna Macy, Pat Fleming, and Arne Naess) Thinking Like a Mountain: Towards a Council of All Beings (New Society). This environmental classic has now been translated into ten languages. In 1979, he founded the Rainforest Information Centre in Australia. In 1984 he helped initiate the U.S. Rainforest Action Network and founded the World Rainforest Report. He was awarded the Order of Australia Medal in 1985 by the Australian government for his contributions to the environment.
He has conducted workshops and made presentations in Australia, North and South America, Japan, India, Thailand, and Eastern and Western Europe. In the U.S., his workshops have been hosted by the Esalen Institute, the Omega Institute, Naropa University, the California Institute of Integral Studies, and others. He also lectures widely at mainstream universities in the U.S., Australia, Europe, and Asia.
Videos of two presentations and a short rainforest activist video, audio of two interviews, and information about his book are available here. To explore engaging John Seed as a speaker, contact him by email here. For the most up-to-date information about John, visit his website here.
